July 29-August 1 Windshield and Bumpers
Here, the trunk divider is finished! We began working on the rear windshield, which was leaking slightly. We also installed the new bumpers (rear and front), which came in from Mustangs Unlimited this week. The roof was also treated with rust remover, so Patrick can install headliner when he gets it in Germany.
July 22-23 Metalwork Continued
The guys are continuing to work on the body metal around the front windshield. They have sanded out the bondo and have started the welding. There are also some photos of the battery fender. We are working on cutting out the rusted area to replace with solid metal. We have uncovered a little more bondo and rust than originally found in the inspection. The damage was undetectable during the preliminary inspection. They are almost done…coming soon, the windshields and headliner will be put in!
May 26-May 30 Reinstallation
They are continuing to install parts new and old. The rear windshield opening needed to be sanded to remove any old glue before the windshield glass is put back in. Tim also installed the new radiator and put in the old for shipment. We also put in the Monte Carlo bar.
Shawn began disassembling the gear box. Some of the gears are stripped and that was causing a popping noise when turning the steering wheel. More on that to come!
May 22-May 23 Getting Started
Hi Laurens! Welcome to your Mustang’s blog! We will post photos of the latest work and give you brief updates on the status of your Mustang. Please note that you can make comments. Let us know what you think!
They started quickly working in the shop. Both the windshields and headliner have been removed. Tim also worked on the hood alignment, which then lead to a driver’s side fender alignment. We also began sanding those bondo spots. The area behind the rear passenger tire and the area between the driver’s door and rear tire are the worst spots we think. We also began sanding that part of the cowl that has some cracking, again bondo is the likely culprit. Check back soon!
