We make a record of all the parts that are removed so we can inspect and place on Project Sheet. This will inform the client of parts to buy and repairs or future restoration work to be done.

Finally! We’ve finished up the first full inspection of John’s convertible. We took a ton of photos and partially disassembled the Mustang–to check the brakes, undercarriage, etc. We’re also building the project sheet as we take these photos and inspect the Mustang–a very detailed document which will outline what parts need replacing or restoration and what things need to be done to get this Mustang done the way John wants it.

In addition to the rest of Dan’s parts inspection, we’ve been doing a little painting of some of his parts, since we prefer large patches of metal to paint at any one time to minimize overall prep-time, along with other people’s parts, such as Dave’s or Cathy’s. There are also some photos in here of Dan’s floorpans, the ones that will be going in in place of his originals, which have heavy Alabama rust and should be replaced, since we’re aiming for a high-quality RestoMod.

Here’s a big inspection of all the parts we’ve taken off of Dan’s Fastback, and we’re doing a thorough photographing and labelling of everything before we put it away for storage while we finish up the last of the metalwork and do the blasting of the body. After we finish the body-work, we’ll go back through all the components we’ve taken off, and will either restore them or replace them or upgrade them. We know Dan wants to do a lot of comfort and performance upgrades, so we’ll be consulting him as we go. There’s another part to this inspection that’s coming soon–so keep an eye out!

April 2- Dave’s Hubcaps

Dave’s hubcaps are in really good condition. Some of them require some re-painting of the black “pedals” between the spokes (one of the hubcaps has no black paint left at all!), and the cap centers on a few need some restoration, and maybe replacement–we’ll see (Dave: keep an eye on your project sheet regarding this). They’re all in usable shape, so we won’t be replacing the hubcaps themselves, so it will be cool to keep the original hubcaps on this Mustang.

April 10- Guy’s Undercarriage Inspection

We recently did a complete undercarriage inspection of Guy’s 1968 Mustang. We have found a few spots of minor rust, and also rust on the exhaust pipes and on the transmission oil pan. The undercarriage, however, is very solid–we like what we see. There does appear to be some damage to the shocks as well, however, which will need attention. We’ll be updating Guy’s Project Sheet with a detailed listing of our findings in the very near future.
