January 30- Laurens’s Engine Installation
Sorry for the long delay! We’ve been very busy lately–lots and lots of emails, new Mustangs to list, restoration updates to blog about, you name it! Work, work, work, work’s never done, not that we’re complaining. The opportunities are great.
Here are some pictures of when Big Chief and the guys were installing Laurens’s engine and all the components in the engine compartment.
February 19- Engine Videos
We’ve got almost everything installed and it’s almost time to load this baby. Here are a couple of videos of the engine running. Sounds great! Love that V8 engine at work!
January 22- Laurens’s Reassembly Con’t
We’re working on re-installing the interior to Laurens’s Fastback, and we’ve also begun installing the door and window mechanics. Tim also put a final layer of etch-prime and gray-prime on the rear quarter panel.
January 21- Laurens’s Reassembly
We’re working on reassembling Laurens’s Fastback here, putting in the rear windshield, installing stuff into the engine compartment, etc. The weld work on his rear quarter panel also needed a little more touching up before we consider it done, so Tim is working on that as well.
January 20- Laurens’s Windshield Installation
Need to catch up on these blog updates! Here is an old one from when we were re-installing Laurens’s windshields. It’s a very meticulous process, getting the rubber seals set just right and glued down, and then we’ll have to test them for leaking, and THEN, if no water gets in, the windshields are good! Phew. Fortunately, every windshield we install goes in smoother than the one before it.
January 15- Laurens’s Carpetting and Fender
Sorry about the delay on updates! Things have been hectic here–we’re working really hard to get Laurens’s Fastback done in time and I’ve been busy dealing with a lot of emails that have been coming in from people interested in all the new Mustangs we’ve been putting up on our website.
We’re laying the carpet now, and finishing up the metalwork on the front fender–you can see where we etch-primed and then grey-primed the finished fender for re-assembly. The rear quarter panel is nearing completion, you can see close-ups here.
January 13, 14- Laurens’s Doors, Front Fenders, Rear Qtr
We’re grinding the rust off of the doors and front fenders. As you can see, some holes are appearing where the metal was rusted all the way through, so we’ll need to do some repairs there, though we think that, on the whole, the body parts are usable. We’ve also welded the right rear quarter panel on, so now there just needs to be some smoothing out done there.
January 9- Laurens’s Fenders and Rear Quarter
We’re continuing to clean up the front fenders, and Tim has etch primed and started welding the repair panel on. When he is finished we will smooth everything out and gray prime everything over.
January 7- Laurens’s Fender Work
We’ve begun the metalwork on Laurens’s front fenders before we re-install them. So far, they appear to be in very good condition–a bit of old junk and stuff stuck on them, but we’re getting it all off and will do any filling that needs to be done and then will prime them in gray.
January 4, 5- Laurens’s Reassembly
As you can see, we’ve started re-installing the chrome trim on Laurens’s Fastback and have begun preparing to install the glass again. The interior is also coming together nicely, and we’ve installed the cover plates over the shock towers. We’ve also installed the door hinges–and the doors themselves will soon follow.
